Journal entry 1

This week we discussed various topics that are vital for engineers to have in a professional workplace, such as communication and ethics. While reading through the textbook, It was eye-opening to see how complex these topics are. For example, communicating in a workplace is very important for success in that workplace. During the discussion was surprised that many people picked the ability to research an important characteristic. Personally, the only one the made sense is the ability to speak and write properly. Even though research is a key tool to have, the ability to communicate is to be able to project your mind to others. What good is having valuable research, if you can’t clearly express it to others?.

After reading about ethics, I realized how much unethical practices take place in real life and on the internet. Companies will do anything to get a sale or click, even if it means misleading the audience. Especially, news articles, because most of the time they put an outrages title that you have to click it, just to find out that it has nothing to do with the article. News outlets will sacrifice their reputation just for some clicks on the internet. Even more, outrages are that articles these days take things out of context and promote false narratives.
